Little is known about the adaptability of lychee ( Litchi chinensis ) to acidic soils high in aluminum (Al). A 2-year greenhouse study was conducted determine effects various levels soil Al on dry matter production, plant growth, and nutrient concentration shoots cultivar rootstock seedlings (maternal half-sibs) cultivars Brewster, Bostworth-3 (Kwai May Pink), Kaimana. Soil treatments were statistically different for all variables measured but not seedlings. Total leaf, stem, root weights significantly decreased at concentrations ranging from 0.42 12.69 cmol·kg −1 . Increments resulted a significant reduction leaf calcium phosphorus increase The potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, boron optimum range lychee, whereas nitrogen manganese above optimum. results this demonstrated no differences production trees grown under stress demonstrate that highly susceptible acid soils.
